Katie Berube (A.R.A.D.) has been a part of Cumbrae for over 12 years, and has explored a variety of styles such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, musical theatre, hip hop and tap. For a number of years, Katie participated in the studio's Teaching Apprentice Program and, having completed her teacher training in 2023, is thrilled to be joining our Cumbrae faculty.

Katie holds her Advanced 2 RAD ballet certificate with distinction, and in the spring of 2023 took the Solo Seal in Toronto.  Over her years at Cumbrae, she has completed all of the RAD ballet levels (Primary through vocational levels).  She received a high distinction on her Discovering Repertoire Level 3 examinations.  Katie intends on completing her final Discovering Repertoire level and the Grade 8 Award this year.

With her BATD training, Katie has completed her advanced modern and advanced tap, has taken her Associate Membership in ballet, and will next train for her Associate in tap and modern.

Katie often likes to further her training by attending master classes that are offered throughout the Ottawa area.  She has been accepted to attend pre-professional programs at The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, The Goh Ballet, as well as the Alberta Ballet School.  Katie attended the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School during the summer of 2021.

Katie has performed at the National Arts Centre in various productions of The Nutcracker for five consecutive years.  Both with The Royal Winnipeg Ballet and Alberta Ballet, she has played a variety of roles (party child, polar bear, etc).

At the BATD North American Trixie Hardy Theatre Dance Scholarships, Katie was nominated each year from the age of 10 (ballet, tap, & jazz). She placed top ten in many styles, and was a trophy recipient in 2018, 2019, and 2022.

Prior to its closing,  Katie was a senior dancer invited to participate in Dancers Give Back, a charitable event that raised money for youth mental health in the Ottawa area.  In 2019, Katie participated in the Royal Academy of Dance's Dance Challenge, and in 2022 & 2023 performed two solos at the Toronto Youth America Grand Prix semi-finals.
